CNC Machining for Industrial Valves

Williams Valve FactoryCNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining uses programmed computer software to control the movement of tools and machinery. It’s a highly precise method for creating valve parts and components. These machines can produce parts with extremely tight tolerances and high accuracy, often down to thousandths of an inch.

Once programmed, CNC machines can produce identical parts repeatedly with minimal variation. This ensures that every valve we produce for you meets its required specifications exactly. Programs can also be easily changed, allowing for design adjustments to valves for your specific industry, or for a custom design such as an emergency shut-off valve.

In-House CNC Services for Valve Production

Our shop uses CNC horizontal lathes to produce precision parts for globe, gate, and swing check valves in our shop. The valve design is created using CAD software, then translated into G-code, the language the CNC machine uses to dictate every movement of the cutting tools. And during the machining process, sensors take continuous measurements to ensure the part is being manufactured to spec.

Our lathes have a horizontal spindle orientation, meaning the workpiece is held and rotated along a horizontal axis. Their capabilities include:

  • Turning/Cylindrical Machining: Creating outer and inner cylindrical surfaces of varying diameters.
  • Facing: Creating flat surfaces perpendicular to the axis of rotation, typically on the ends of the workpiece.
  • Boring: Enlarging or creating precise internal holes.
  • Drilling: Creating initial holes.
  • Reaming: Fine-tuning the size and surface finish of existing holes.
  • Threading: Cutting internal or external threads for screws, bolts, or pipe connections.
  • Grooving: Creating grooves of various shapes and sizes on the part’s surface.
  • Parting/Cut-off: Separating a finished part from the main bar stock.
  • Knurling: Creating a textured pattern on the surface for grip.

Our valve manufacturing team is highly experienced in CNC machine programming and operation, combined with our expertise in valve design and in-depth knowledge of material characteristics. The result is a valve that’s been engineered and manufactured to integrate flawlessly into your system and perform exactly as expected from day one.

CNC Industrial Gate Valves

The manufacturing of gate valves combines traditional metal forming with high-precision machining and assembly. Gate valves are one of the most common types of industrial valves, and are used for on/off service to fully open or fully close a fluid flow. The fundamental design of this valve involves a gate or disc that moves perpendicular to the flow of fluid. When the valve is fully open, the gate is completely withdrawn into the valve bonnet. This creates an unobstructed flow path with minimal pressure drop. When closed, the gate is lowered to block the flow completely.

Some of the industrial gate valves we offer are:

CNC Industrial Globe Valves

Globe valves are specifically designed for regulating or throttling fluid flow, in addition to the ability to fully stop or start flow. The manufacturing process for globe valves is similar to gate valves, but focuses more on the precision of internal components due to their flow control function. The most characteristic feature of a globe valve is its body shape, which often appears spherical with an internal baffle or partition that divides the flow path. This forces the fluid to travel through a restricted opening, creating a pressure drop that is essential for throttling.

Industrial globe valves we provide include:

  • Cast Steel Bolted Bonnet Angle Valves 150lb – 300lb
  • Cast Steel Bolted Bonnet Globe Valves 150lb – 2500lb

CNC Industrial Swing Check Valves

Swing check valves permit fluid flow in one direction only and prevent backflow. They are critical in piping systems to protect pumps and compressors from damage caused by back pressure or reverse flow. The design centers around a disc that swings on a hinge pin or shaft within the valve body. This requires precision engineering to ensure unimpeded disc movement and a reliable seal.

Types of industrial swing check valves we manufacture:

  • Cast Steel Swing Check Valves 150lb – 2500lb
  • Forged Steel Swing Check Valves 800lb & 1500lb
  • Forged Steel Flanged Swing Check Valves 150lb, 300lb, & 600lb
  • Stainless Steel Swing Check Valves 200lb WOG
